Filipino girl group KAIA is back with a new song, and if you’ve ever been in a situationship or a relationship with a walking red flag, “TANGA” is definitely for you. It’s about loving someone even when everyone, including your mom, tells you not to. It’s about giving your all, even when it hurts. And let’s be real, a lot of people are going to relate to this.
KAIA: Rising Stars of P-pop
KAIA is a five-member Filipino girl group that’s been making a name for themselves in P-pop. The group is made up of twin sisters Charice and Angela, along with Alexa, Sophia, and Charlotte. They first introduced themselves with their pre-debut single “Kaya” on December 2021, before officially debuting with “Blah Blah” on April 2022.
Their name comes from the Cebuano word kinaiya, which means “inner character and a person’s individuality.” It also sounds like the Filipino word kaya, which means “capability to overcome obstacles”—something they continue to prove with each comeback.
“TANGA”: The Song That Gets It
The song calls out those guys who say all the right things but never follow through, making you feel like a fool for believing them. But more than that, it’s about still holding on, even when you know you shouldn’t.
The lyrics hit deep, and if you’ve ever been in a one-sided or messy love situation, this song will speak to you. It’s real, and the kind of song you blast when you’re feeling some type of way.
What’s Next for KAIA?
Now that “TANGA” is out, fans can’t wait to see what KAIA does next. Their music keeps getting better, and they’re only going up from here. Whether it’s new songs, live performances, or unexpected collabs, one thing’s for sure—KAIA is a group to watch.
